Prince Harry has always loved his father, King Charles, a royal expert says, but one thing he’s always hated is his response to disputes with Prince William – and now the younger prince has a Father’s Day decision to make
Prince Harry has always hated the way his dad King Charles has responded to family disputes with Prince William, a royal expert has said.
The Duke of Sussex faces a Father’s Day decision as he struggles to schedule a call with his dad having not seen him for months – but is likely to send the King a “warm message” as “It’s easy to forget that Harry really does love his father”, says Tom Quinn, royal author and expert.
More than four years ago, the Duke of Sussex traded the UK for the sunny climes of Montecito, California. Along with his wife Meghan Markle, they relinquished their senior Royal duties just months prior to their move across the pond. Since settling in the US, Prince Harry has made only a handful of trips back to his native land, this year making the journey just twice.
In February, Harry rushed back to England upon learning about his father’s cancer diagnosis – during this brief visit, he spent approximately 30 minutes with his dad. He returned once more last month for an Invictus Games event at St Paul’s Cathedral but didn’t manage to meet with the King due to conflicting schedules.
As Father’s Day approaches, Royal author and expert Tom Quinn tells the Mirror: “King Charles’ birthday and Father’s Day are both a nightmare for Harry. He knows the world will be watching to see whether he is big enough to reach out to his father.
He is determined to try to ignore his troubled relationship with his father and he will certainly send a warm message. It’s easy to forget that Harry really does love his father, he just hates the fact that Charles seems always to support William when there is a family dispute.”
Harry is now facing a Father’s Day dilemma, Mr Quinvn claims, as the world will be keenly observing if he extends an olive branch to his father, King Charles. Meanwhile, according to Mr Quinn, the Duke of Sussex is even finding it challenging to arrange a call with King Charles.
Mr Quinn made the startling claim that Harry’s attempts to speak with his father have been met with reluctance. He alleged: “Harry has tried to schedule a call with his father already, but his father is prevaricating with Camilla advising against anything that might upset King Charles.”
Observations are heightened ahead of Father’s Day on June 16 followed by the King’s birthday a day after and not to forget his real birth anniversary on November 14 when he will be turning 76 – ensuring public curiosity around Royal interactions. Representatives for Prince Harry have been contacted by The Mirror for a response.
